Ball of Foot Pain
Pain in the ball of the foot (metatarsalgia) can make walking and standing quite unbearable. People suffering from metatarsalgia have disrupted the delicate balance between the metatarsals resulting in mild to intense foot pain.
There are many pathologies associated with metatarsalgia which include, bone abnormalities to systemic conditions such as diabetes, an imbalance in the long bones of the foot, enlarged metatarsal heads, arthritis, nerve-type pain in the foot, calluses or skin lesions that cause the weight on the foot to be unevenly distributed and the migration of fatty tissue from the foot pad. All these conditions can be made worse from any activity which abnormally loads the forefoot such as walking in inappropriate footwear or sporting activities.
Our recommended insoles, gel ball of foot cushions / pads, and other gel ball foot products listed below have all been designed to help prevent metatarsalgia and provide the foot with the extra padding required for all day foot comfort. If your metatarsalgia is due to sporting activities we suggest you view our orthotic / insole range, however if more support and cushioning doesn’t help alleviate pain, consult your podiatrist for further treatment.
